University of Leeds Aerosol Instrumentation and Measurement
The aerosol observation group has access to a wide range of instrumentation, some
of which are commercially available systems, others which have been developed in
house. The instrumentation within the group was enhanced in 2003 when Emeritus
Prof. Mike Smith received Science Research Investment Funding (SRIF) from the University. This
funding was used to establish the Environmental Chamber Laboratory, which houses
the Environmental Chamber, some of the aerosol generation equipment detailed below,
and the TSI Model 3800 Aerosol Time-Of-Flight Mass Spectrometer. The laboratory
is located a ten minute walk away from the main School building, in the School of
Physics and Astronomy.
